James is an experienced criminal lawyer, having pleaded both at trial and on appeal, in defense and prosecution. He has a special interest in constitutional challenges. He practices all over the province as well as Ontario on occasion.
He defends people facing criminal, penal and disciplinary charges; including spousal abuse, drugs, fraud and murder. He also defends legal persons facing criminal, criminal and administrative penalties; in particular, before the liquor board for racing and gaming and the Administrative Tribunal of Québec.
His clientele is made up of many non-criminalized people and therefore discretion and outcome are issues of great importance. He is frequently consulted by natural and legal persons on criminal, statutory, disciplinary, administrative and constitutional matters.
James is regularly present at conferences and professional training either as a participant and as a speaker. He is active in the legal community having been the chair of the Liaison Committee with the Montreal Municipal Court, criminal and penal matters, as well as a member of the committee of the administration of justice in criminal matters (Quebec courts and superior). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a Certificate in Law and a LL.B. in 2002. James masters English, French, Spanish and Italian.
